UEL FINAL PREVIEW: Eintracht Frankfurt vs Rangers

Welcome to the UEL final, one of the 3 European Intercontinental Club Competitions scheduled to go down this May.

The remaining 2 are the UECL and the UCL with both coming up next week Wednesday and Saturday respectively.

Back to today’s final, we’ve got Oliver Glasner’ Frankfurt taking on Giovanni Van Bronckhorst Rangers.

If you followed through this competition, you will agree with me that both teams have been impressive.

Okay, I think it’s best we do a recap on how both teams made it to this grand stage. I hope we are ready?

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT: Die Adler came out top of Group D with 12 points.

They did a double over Olympiacos, got a win and a draw against Royal Antwerp, and were forced to a two-legged draw by Fenerbahce.

They continued their impressive run in the knockout stages as they saw off Real Betis in the Round of 16 and sent Barcelona crashing out in the Quarter Finals.

They eventually got to the final thanks to a two-legged victory over an impressive David Moyes’ West Ham United.

Impressive isn’t it?

RANGERS: Unlike their opponent who came 1st, the Gers had to settle for 2nd position in Group A.

They managed a win and a draw against Broendby IF, a win and a loss against Sparta Prague, and a draw and a loss against eventual group winner, Lyon.

Having come 2nd, they needed to defeat Borussia Dortmund in the UEL playoff to secure their passage into the knockout stages.

They achieved the above with a win and draw in the 2-legged tie.

They then clinched their Quarterfinal ticket thanks to a better goal margin over FK Crvena and Zvezda in a tie that ended in a win and a loss over both legs.

A repeat of the above scenario helped them see off Braga in the Quarterfinal, and Rasenballsport Leipzig in the Semis.

Guess they were about outscoring their opponent, weren’t they?

They remind me of Real Madrid.

Do you know Eintracht Frankfurt are on an unbeaten run in this competition?

If you followed through closely, you will definitely observe this.

This definitely says a lot, and you can bet they will be looking to keep this record intact at the end of today’s game.

Unfortunately, their current form in all competitions doesn’t look good enough, a loophole Rangers can benefit from.

Glasner’s men have 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in their last 5 games compared to Bronkchorst’s men who have 4 wins and 1 draw in as many games.

Let’s also be informed that Rangers are on a winning streak of 4 games, don’t you think they will be looking to keep this intact as well?

Smiles, rather than pick sides, I will prefer to watch and enjoy this game to its fullest.

I believe it will be an eventful one, and you being told how it went shouldn’t be an option for you.
