EPL (CHELSEA VS TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR)

Thomas Tuchel’s side will face London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Back in the day, this fixture would have been of little significance.

However, Tottenham’s rise over the decade has made this it a must-watch.

Even if you don’t know about Spurs some couple of years ago, their current performance under former Chelsea’s gaffer, Antonio Conte, shouldn’t be oblivious to you.

From the look of things, I see no reason why any EPL fan should miss this mouth-watering tie.

With the above well said, let’s go to the business of the day as we consider either team’s chances of winning this fixture.

EPL (CHELSEA)

Head To Head: An impressive point in favor of Thomas Tuchel’s side.

The Blues are currently on an unbeaten run of 7 EPL games against Spurs.

This run includes, 6 wins, 1 draw, 12 goals scored, and 1 goal conceded.

Utter dominance, isn’t it?

Home Advantage: You shouldn’t be surprised to see this point pop up once again.

The Blues have the advantage of hosting this fixture, and if well utilized, they should be able to come out with at least a draw.

Yes, I said a draw because, of the 7 EPL meetings stated in our 1st point, 4 of which occurred here.

And of those 4, 1 was a goalless draw.

Mere looking at the 2 points given in favor of Chelsea, one would easily come to the conclusion that they, Chelsea, have the upper hand in this fixture.

However, I would advise we take a look at points favoring Tottenham before doing the above.

EPL (TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR)

Chelsea’s Current Poor Run Of Home Games: Although the Blues have an excellent run of home games against Spurs their current EPL performance playing at the Bridge says otherwise.

Out of the last 6 EPL home games they’ve played, they’ve only won 2, with the remaining 4 ending in 2 draws and 2 losses.

I wouldn’t be too proud of this result if I were a Chelsea fan.

You can bet Antonio Conte and his men will be looking to pounce on this deficiency.

Current Form: Well, if we’re not satisfied with the 1st point given above, I believe this 2nd point should except if we want to deceive ourselves.

Considering the last 6 EPL games played by either team, Chelsea were only able to manage 3 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss.

Tottenham Hotspur on the hand had 5 wins and 1 draw.

The goal difference of either team during this period says more about their performance.

The Blues have +4, 9 goals scored whilst conceding 5, compared to Spurs who have +14 having scored 17 goals and only letting in 3.

I presume we should be having a rethink by now.

CONCLUSION

Based on the points we have above, picking a side here is super difficult for me.

Nevertheless, I would go with either a draw or win for Tottenham Hotspur.

I definitely won’t be surprised if Chelsea get a win either.
